Enterprises restart operations as outbreak control continues

The proportion of enterprises that resumeing production in China is rising, as the country is sparing no effort to tackle the novel coronavirus outbreak and while tens of millions of people are returning to their places of work after the Spring Festival holiday,

According to the big data released by Chinese internet search giant Baidu Inc, more than 50 percent of companies in major cities across the nation have restarted production, with Xining, in Northwest China's Qinghai province ranking the first (65.03%), followed by Dalian (64.1%) and Changchun (63.45%).

The report said the online search trends related to resuming work surged 678 percent from Feb 26 to March 3 month-on-month. About 96.28 percent of companies in the financial industry have resumed work, topping the list among all industries, compared with 96.15 percent and 82.46 percent of enterprises in automobile services and catering segment, respectively.

In addition, more than 90 percent of restaurants in Beijing have begun operations, and more than 80 percent of the supermarkets and convenience stores in first-tier cities have started their business.
