LONDON, Jan. 28 (Xinhua) -- British stocks rose on Tuesday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index up by 0.93 percent, or 68.64 points, to close at 7,480.69 points.

InterContinental Hotels Group, an international hotel company, soared 3.05 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. St. James's Place and Hargreaves Lansdown increased by 2.96 percent and 2.92 percent, respectively.
Diageo, a British multinational alcoholic beverages company, was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 1.44 percent. Centrica, a British multinational energy and services company, dropped 0.79 percent. Polymetal International, a precious metal mining company, fell 0.63 percent.
