New Delhi (People’s Daily) – More than 600 Indian and Chinese delegates attended the 3rd Chindia TMT (technology media telecom) Dialogue in New Delhi on Friday to discuss the opportunities and challenges associated with the internet and a need for technology investment between the two countries.
During the event, Amitabh Kant, CEO of the National Institute for Transforming India (NITI Aayog), said China and India should work together to nurture burgeoning tech startups. Kant also emphasized a need for increased Chinese investment in Indian technology businesses.

According to Li Jian, founder & CEO Draphant, there are nearly 4,400 tech startups in India. He said that number will reach 12,000 by 2020.
“Our companies focus on business solutions, and services many Chinese companies,” Li said. “There is a big potential for technical coop-rations from both countries. India needs Chinese investment, technical, and management.”

Commerce Counselor at the Chinese Embassy Li Baijun said information technology via the internet is changing lives, enhancing people’s capabilities, and transforming the world. Li said, thanks to the internet, distance no longer prevents people form communicating and that means more connectivity than ever before.

Li said China and India are both major counties in terms of internet usage and that there is great potential for cooperation between the countries.
