Chinese shares end higher Monday

BEIJING, March 2 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed higher on Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 3.15 percent, at 2,970.93 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 3.65 percent higher at 11,381.76 points.

The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 1.03 trillion yuan (about 147.4 billion U.S. dollars), shrinking from 1.13 trillion yuan the previous trading day.
Gainers outweighed losers by 1,447 to 48 on the Shanghai bourse and 2,110 to 76 in Shenzhen.
Companies in the cement sectors led the gains, with shares of the Sichuan Road & Bridge Co. Ltd. surging by the daily limit of 10 percent.
Investors are also taking a shine to the building decoration company stocks, as shares of the Shanghai Construction Group Co. Ltd. ticked up 7.46 percent to 3.6 yuan apiece.
The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, gained 3.08 percent to close at 2,135.42 points Monday.
