According to media reports, the Bombay Stock Exchange's (BSE) Sensex tanked over 1,000 points and the National Stock Exchange's (NSE) Nifty cracked below the key 17,000-level in opening deals on Tuesday, reflecting a rout in the global equity markets.

Investors dumped equities across the board due to an escalation of the Ukraine crisis, added the media reports.
