NEW DELHI, Feb. 22 (Xinhua) - The ongoing Ukraine crisis had a direct and adverse impact on Indian stock markets on Tuesday, as both the "Sensex" and "Nifty" fell over two percent each in the opening trade.
According to media reports, the Bombay Stock Exchange's (BSE) Sensex tanked over 1,000 points and the National Stock Exchange's (NSE) Nifty cracked below the key 17,000-level in opening deals on Tuesday, reflecting a rout in the global equity markets.
Investors dumped equities across the board due to an escalation of the Ukraine crisis, added the media reports.
