MUMBAI, Jan. 12 (Xinhua) -- Indian markets opened flat with a negative note on Tuesday on the back of weak global cues.

The benchmark S&P, BSE Sensex opened at 49,167.57, 101.75 points or 0.21 percent down compared to its previous close at 49,269.32.
