Tokyo stocks opened flat Friday as investors awaited fresh news after a US market holiday for Thanksgiving.

The benchmark Nikkei 225 index was barely changed, inching down 0.01 percent, or 3.42 points, to 28,379.67 in early trade, while the broader Topix index was up 0.01 percent, or 0.17 points, at 2,018.97
