Tokyo shares open down after global selloff

Tokyo stocks opened lower Monday following a long weekend that saw global selloffs, with investors expected to stay "risk-off" for some time.

The benchmark Nikkei 225 index dropped 1.44 percent, or 392.37 points, to 26,761.46 in early trade, while the broader Topix index lost 1.34 percent, or 25.66 points, to 1,890.46.
