TOKYO, Jan. 31 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar changed hands in the upper 108 yen zone in early deals in Tokyo on Friday, largely in line with its level in New York overnight.

As markets opened here, the dollar was quoted at 108.90-91 yen, compared with 108.89-99 yen in New York and 108.86-87 yen at 5 p.m. on Thursday in Tokyo.

The euro, meanwhile, fetched 1.1029-1029 dollars and 120.10-11 yen against 1.1026-1036 dollars and 120.14-24 yen in New York, and 1.1011-1012 dollars and 119.87-91 yen in late Thursday afternoon trade in Tokyo.
