Tokyo stocks advance in morning on solid US jobs data

TOKYO, Dec. 9 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks advanced Monday morning as the market mood was buoyed by solid U.S. jobs data for November leading to Wall Street rising late last week.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 107.19 points, or 0.46 percent, from Friday to 23,461.59.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 7.09 points, or 0.41 percent, at 1,720.45.

Mining, oil and coal product, and iron and steel-linked issues comprised those that gained the most by the morning break.
