BEIJING, Aug. 13 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed lower on Friday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.24 percent to 3,516.3 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.69 percent lower at 14,799.03 points.

The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 1.3 trillion yuan (about 200 billion U.S. dollars), roughly the same as the previous trading day.

Stocks related to titanium dioxide led the gains, while those related to voice technology suffered losses.

The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, fell 1.22 percent to close at 3,345.13 points.
