SINGAPORE, Jan. 19 (Xinhua) -- Singapore's Changi Airport will work with multiple Chinese airlines to operate more than 600 supplementary flights to 15 cities in China from Feb. 1 to March 8, more than double the number added during the same period in 2025, amid an anticipated increase in travel demand over the coming Chinese New Year holiday, Changi Airport Group said on Monday.

China is Singapore's largest visitor source market, it said, adding that the Chinese New Year period has long been a key travel window for Chinese visitors, supported by the continued implementation of the China-Singapore mutual visa-free policy and the overlap with winter school holidays.

Some of the additional services will be operated by wide-body aircraft, increasing seat capacity and passenger comfort, it said.

The increase in capacity "reflects the strong travel demand we continue to see between China and Singapore," said Lim Ching Kiat, executive vice president for Air Hub and Cargo Development at Changi Airport Group, citing close partnerships with airline partners.

The expanded services, including flights to several Chinese cities receiving supplementary services for the first time, will further strengthen Singapore's position as a gateway to China, Lim added.

Changi Airport will also roll out Chinese New Year-themed activities both online and on-site during the holiday period.

One of Asia's most connected international aviation hubs, Changi Airport offers direct links to around 170 cities worldwide, with nearly 100 airlines operating about 7,000 flights a week.
