A celebration activity for the 20th anniversary of the China-US Commercial Match-Making Program (CMP) will be held next month, as part of the efforts of CCPIT bridging the business and industrial exchanges between China and the US, a spokesperson for China's trade promotion agency said on Wednesday.
The celebration activity will be jointly held by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), the US Embassy in China and the US Department of Commerce's International Trade Administration next month in Beijing, which will adopt the format of a basketball match and networking reception, Wang Wenshuai, a spokesperson for the CCPIT, said on Wednesday at a regular press conference.
"Since its launch in 2005, CMP has established project offices in 27 provinces and municipalities across China, organized more than 100 events, and served over 3,000 Chinese and US enterprises. The program has facilitated practical cooperation between companies in multiple fields, including advanced manufacturing, rail transit, energy conservation and environmental protection, finance, and automobiles, playing a positive role in promoting the healthy and stable development of China-US economic and trade relations," said Wang.
The remarks were in response to a question on how CCPIT views recent economic and trade cooperation between China-US business and industrial sectors, as in 2026, China will serve as host countries for APEC and the US for G20.
Wang said that guided by the important consensus reached between the heads of state of China and the US, bilateral business and industry exchanges and cooperation have increased significantly recently.
For example, at the Consumer Electronics Show 2026 (CES) held in Las Vegas earlier this month, nearly 1,000 Chinese companies participated, accounting for more than 20 percent of the total exhibitors, said Wang.
"The CCPIT has consistently played an active role as a bridge and link facilitating exchanges and cooperation between the Chinese and US business communities. Last year, CCPIT invited and hosted more than 60 delegations of US business representatives visiting China. This year, multiple Fortune 500 US companies have already signed up to participate in the fourth China International Supply Chain Expo (CISCE)," said Wang.
The 2026 Business 20 (B20), the Global Business Forum for G20 Summit, will be held by the US, with the US Chamber of Commerce as lead. China will organize relevant enterprises and institutions to participate in the B20 process, develop and submit policy recommendations, and work together to promote the building of an open world economy and achieve inclusive global growth, said Wang.
The CCPIT will act as the organizer of this year's APEC CEO Summit and serve as the leading Chinese entity responsible for participating in the B20 process.
CCPIT chairman Ren Hongbin said on Tuesday at the CCPIT's annual national work conference that in 2025, China-US relations achieved overall dynamic stability, noting through five rounds of economic and trade consultations, China-US economic and trade relations experienced a phased easing.
"However, we must remain clear-eyed: great-power competition has become more complex and intense, and a small number of Western countries continue to cling to Cold War thinking and zero-sum game logic, and are implementing all-round containment, encirclement, suppression, and pressure against China, resulting in increased external environmental pressure on our country," said Ren.
"We must use high-level opening-up to deepen convergence of interests with all countries and create a new situation of win-win cooperation," Ren noted.
