At a press briefing of the Chinese Foreign Ministry on Wednesday, a reporter said that the Indian government yesterday released investment guidelines targeting neighboring countries, particularly China, which comes against the backdrop of a thaw in relations between the two countries this year, following a five-year de facto freeze. The reporter noted that while this involves investment and is not a question directly addressed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it carries strategic significance and is being implemented against the backdrop of improved bilateral relations, and asked for the ministry's comment. In response, spokesperson Guo Jiakun said that "as you have mentioned, I would refer you to the competent Chinese authorities for answers to your question."
