BEIJING, April 28 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed lower on Tuesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.19 percent to 4,078.64 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 1.1 percent lower at 14,830.46 points.

The combined turnover of the two indices totaled 2.55 trillion yuan (about 371.8 billion U.S. dollars), down from 2.59 trillion yuan on the previous trading day.

The coal and fuel gas sectors led the gains, while shares related to humanoid robots and computing power hardware were among the decliners.

The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, lost 1.43 percent to close at 3,596.71 points on Tuesday.

The STAR Composite Index, which reflects the performance of stocks on China's sci-tech innovation board, closed 1.36 percent lower at 1,875.79 points.
