SEOUL, Aug. 3 (Xinhua) -- South Korea's online shopping posted double-digit growth in June, boosted by soaring online purchases of cars and mobile devices, official statistics showed Monday.

Online shopping sales expanded 10.7 percent from a year earlier to 24.61 trillion won (17.2 billion U.S. dollars) in June, according to the Ministry of Data and Statistics.
Online sales of cars and car accessories jumped 56.8 percent amid surging online purchases of models from the U.S. automaker Tesla.
Online demand for mobile devices skyrocketed 144.4 percent thanks to the launch of new smartphones, while demand for food and beverages, home appliances, computers, farm goods, culture and leisure services all recorded double-digit increases.
Online transactions of e-coupon services rose 12.0 percent amid a growing trend to provide gifts such as coffee and cake through e-coupons.
Mobile shopping through smartphones, tablets and other gadgets gained 9.8 percent over the year to 18.93 trillion won in June, accounting for 76.9 percent of the total online shopping.
