CXMT boosts wafer output by over 50%

Chinese memory chipmaker ChangXin Memory Technologies said on Sunday that it has begun mass production using its fifth-generation manufacturing process, which increases output per wafer by more than 50 percent compared to its previous-generation platform.

The company, known as CXMT, announced the development at the 2026 World Manufacturing Convention in Hefei, Anhui province, saying the increase was achieved through higher memory density.

Its 24-gigabyte LPDDR5X products made using the new process have also entered mass production and are being used in mainstream flagship smartphones from Chinese brands, the company said.

CXMT said the new process achieves an active-area half-pitch of 11.95 nanometers in its memory arrays and a memory capacitor depth-to-width ratio of 45:1.

The announcement marks an upgrade to CXMT's manufacturing technology. The company announced mass production of LPDDR5X products in October 2025, with its lineup including 12GB, 16GB and 24GB chip packages.
