Macao's composite CPI up 1.29 pct in August

MACAO, Sept. 28 (Xinhua) -- Macao's composite consumer price index (CPI) rose by 1.29 percent year on year and 0.28 percent month on month in August, the special administrative region's Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) has said.

The service noted on Friday that the food and non-alcoholic beverages index increased by 1.37 percent year on year in August, driven by higher eating-out and takeaway charges. The transport index grew by 3.08 percent due to rising gasoline prices.

For the first eight months of 2026, the average composite CPI grew by 1.13 percent year on year, while the average composite CPI for the 12 months ended August rose by 0.96 percent from the previous period.
