BERLIN, Aug. 23 (Xinhua) -- Former CEO of Daimler, Dieter Zetsche, is to join the advisory board of the German discount supermarket chain Aldi Sued, the Manager Magazin reported on Friday.

The 66-year-old Zetsche, who is also chairman of the supervisory board of travel and tourism company TUI, had spent his entire career at Daimler and resigned from his position as chairman of the Board of Management of the automobile giant in May.

Unlike Aldi Sued, the other big branch in Germany Aldi Nord is mainly relying on family members and people close to the family to fill its management positions.

Aldi group was operating more than 4,000 supermarkets in Germany in 2017 and is also expanding internationally.

In June, the German discount supermarket chain opened its first two stores in Shanghai of China.
