Gross domestic product (GDP) in Germany neither grew nor shrank in the final quarter of 2018, official data showed Thursday, soothing fears the country could have suffered a technical recession in the second half.

Federal statistics authority Destatis reported 0.0 percent change in GDP adjusted for price, seasonal and calendar effects between October and December, rounding off a 1.4-percent expansion over the full year -- 0.1 points lower than intially calculated last month.
