BERLIN, Aug. 10 (Xinhua) -- German shares were almost unchanged at the start of trading on Tuesday, with the benchmark DAX index losing 11.31 points, or 0.07 percent, opening at 15,734.1 points.
The biggest winner among Germany's 30 largest listed companies was pharmaceutical company Merck, increasing by 2.12 percent, followed by online food delivery company Delivery Hero with 1.73 percent and dialysis specialist Fresenius Medical Care with 1.61 percent.
Shares of German aircraft engine manufacturer MTU Aero Engines fell by 0.44 percent, the biggest loser at the start of trading on Tuesday.
Turnover in Germany's main construction industry in May increased by 3.4 percent year-on-year, the country's Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) announced Tuesday. The number of employees in this sector was up 2.2 percent.
The yield on German ten-year bonds declined 0.0075 percentage points to minus 0.4655 percent and the euro was trading almost unchanged at 1.1739 U.S. dollars, increasing by 0.01 percent on Tuesday morning.
