MUMBAI, Oct. 19 (Xinhua) -- Indian markets closed higher on Monday. Among sectors, except pharma, IT and auto other indices ended in the green. BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices gained 0.5 percent each.

The benchmark S&P, BSE Sensex closed at 40,431.60, 448.62 points or 1.12 percent up compared to its previous close at 39,982.98.
