Mexico's economy, the second largest in Latin America, shrank 8.5 percent in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic, the government statistics agency INEGI reported Friday.

The contraction was slightly smaller than the 9 percent drop forecast by analysts consulted monthly by the Mexican central bank.
