Nasdaq hits 9,000 for first time

NEW YORK, Dec. 26 (Xinhua) -- U.S. stocks climbed on Thursday with the Nasdaq hitting 9,000 for the first time in intraday trading, adding to the year-end rally.
Around midday, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 78.69 points, or 0.28 percent, to 28,594.14. The S&P 500 was up 11.19 points, or 0.35 percent, to 3,234.57. The Nasdaq Composite Index increased 47.12 points, or 0.53 percent, to 9,000.01.
