Among the total 30 million enterprises in China, 83 percent of 181,000 high-tech enterprises are private, which have helped to create the main support for a strong economy and scientific and technological innovation, according to a meeting on Tuesday.
China's high-tech enterprise identification policy started in 1991 in the national high-tech zone. In 2008 and 2016, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Finance and the State Taxation Administration jointly revised, implemented and comprehensively promoted the policy, giving high-tech enterprises a preferential rate of 15 percent on income tax.
Economic development and trade competition are closely related to the strength of science and technology and the competitiveness of enterprises, the rising of high-tech enterprises with independent intellectual property rights and core technologies will contribute to the rapid and steady development of the economy in the current complex international environment.
Science and technology from private enterprises are indispensable parts of China's technological innovation system. Private enterprises rely on scientific and technological progress, have higher science and technology levels in products, own independent intellectual property rights, and are the most energetic in technological innovation. Many private high-tech enterprises have become the top 100 local innovation or manufacturing enterprises and have shown their leading innovation advantages in the same industry in China and even in the world.
