Fourteen Ritz-Carlton hotels across China held a unique gastronomic dinner event presenting a traditional French menu on a single evening in late October.
They did this in collaboration with the Disciples of Escoffier, an association to honor the "father of French gastronomy" — Auguste Escoffier (1846-1935).
The top-notch culinary team from The Ritz-Carlton, Tianjin crafted a special menu and brought the unforgettable experience to guests on Oct 28.
"Marriott Bonvoy luxury hotels have always been committed to creating a rich variety of food and beverage offerings and distinctive dining experiences for discerning guests. This includes Chinese delicacies that highlight exquisite craftsmanship, and even global cuisines with exotic flavors," said Richard Taffs, market vice-president of luxury for China, Marriott International, in remarks on their cooperation with Escoffier.
"We strive to present the diverse, wonderful culinary culture and fascination, and are thrilled to work with the Disciples Escoffier China, carry forward and extend the classic French delicacies in the era of Escoffier, fuse the century-old culinary culture, recreate the brand's signature legendary service and reimagine ultimate dining experiences at modern luxury hotels," he said.
"It's very exciting to revive 100-year-old recipes in the modern times to gather and celebrate together our Ritz legacy in our castle. We enjoyed bringing thematic dinners to our guests to continuously create memories and unique experiences," said Hector Busto, general manager of The Ritz-Carlton, Tianjin.
Disciples d'Escoffier International was created in France in 1954 to perpetuate the memory and the values of the "father of French gastronomy".
As an association of chefs, food and beverage professionals and foodies, Disciples d'Escoffier International aims at respecting culinary traditions, promoting a perpetual improvement of cooking practices, as well as sharing the knowledge and passion of gastronomy.
In 1911, under the wishes of Escoffier, the first Epicurean dinners were organized. Its aim was to celebrate French gastronomy worldwide by hosting special dinners with the same menu on the same night in multiple restaurants across the globe.
As a tribute to Auguste Escoffier, Disciples Escoffier International China and the Ritz-Carlton hotels in China partnered to revive the spirit of those dinners by hosting a unique gastronomic gala that features only typical recipes from that time created by Escoffier and served in the 14 Ritz-Carlton hotels in China.
