Recently, China Petrochemical Corp, or Sinopec Group, has discovered abundant flows of natural gas and crude oil at the Shunbei-42X well and the Shunbei-41X well in the petroliferous Tarim Basin in the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region.

With an average depth of over 7,300 meters, the wells at the Shunbei oil and gas field are among the deepest onshore oil-gas reservoirs in the world. China Petrochemical Corp (Sinopec) Northwest Oilfield Co, a branch of the Sinopec Group, has made breakthroughs in the key technology of exploring and exploiting gas and oil from high-pressure, high-temperature wells.

Wells at the Shunbei oil and gas field are among the deepest onshore oil-gas reservoirs in the world.

The discovery helps to boost domestic output, guaranteeing a supply of continuous resources for the country's future development, said Shi Yunlu, deputy manager of the branch.

Last year, the Northwest Oilfield produced 6.7 million metric tons of crude oil and 1.91 billion cubic meters of natural gas.
