COLOMBO, Feb. 18 (Xinhua) -- The Sri Lankan government has implemented a special program to enable foreign investors to invest in the island country without delay, Industrial Exports, Investment Promotion, Tourism and Aviation Minister Prasanna Ranatunga said here Tuesday.

Ranatunga told journalists in a media briefing that the government hopes to bring in more foreign investors to the country within the next five years and this new program has been launched to achieve this target, keeping in line with President Gotabaya Rajapaksa's "Vision of Prosperity and Splendor" policy.

Ranatunga further explained that two special committees have been set up to expedite investment project approvals.

These committees will ensure approval of investment applications by co-coordinating work with relevant departments and allocate land by evaluating them according to the BOI's technical and financial guidelines.

Steps have also been taken to develop import and export facilities for visiting investors and expedite the granting of visas to investors and their expatriate staff.
