US electric car maker Tesla Inc plans to raise prices in China from September due to exchange rate uncertainty, according to Reuters on Wednesday.

The change will take effect before Tesla rolls out its first Chinese-made Model 3 vehicles, electric vehicle news website Electrek reported.

The price increase covers all Tesla models currently in the market, and even the Model 3 to be produced at the Gigafactory in Shanghai at the end of this year, said a sales representative in a report by The Paper on Thursday.

A person in charge of Tesla China told The Paper that everybody should rely on the company's official website for specific price information and did not respond to the detailed reasons for the price increase.

On Tesla China's official website, there was no change in prices by Friday.

Last month, Tesla just marked down the prices of its Model 3 series, with the highest reduction up to 33,100 yuan ($4,700). China-made Model 3 vehicles still maintain a starting price of 328,000 yuan.
