Tokyo stocks advance in morning after Fed chief's rate cut hint

TOKYO, July 11 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks advanced Thursday morning, tracking gains on Wall Street overnight, after hints made by U.S. Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell about a rate cut later this month.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 75.60 points, or 0.35 percent, from Wednesday to 21,609.08.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 6.52 points, or 0.41 percent, at 1,577.84.

Miscellaneous product, mining, and farm and fishery-linked issues comprised those that gained the most by the morning break.
