TOKYO, Aug. 21 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks advanced Friday morning as technology issues were buoyed after their U.S. peers outperformed on Wall Street overnight.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 73.04 points, or 0.32 percent, from Thursday to 22,953.66.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 5.15 points, or 0.32 percent, at 1,604.35.

Precision instrument, air transportation, and rubber product issues comprised those that gained the most by the morning break.
