TOKYO, Jan. 31 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks gained ground Friday morning after inheriting a solid lead from Wall Street overnight with technology and financial stocks' advance lifting their counterparts here and boosting overall sentiment.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 290.63 points, or 1.26 percent, from Thursday to 23,268.38.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 15.09 points, or 0.90 percent, at 1,689.86.
Securities house, precision instrument and real estate-linked issues comprised those that gained the most by the morning break.
