TOKYO, July 15 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo shares advanced Wednesday morning, following Wall Street's positive lead, with an upbeat mood also helped by reports that an experimental coronavirus vaccine in the United States had showed positive results in a clinical study.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 325.23 points, or 1.44 percent, from Tuesday to 22,912.24.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 20.40 points, or 1.30 percent, at 1,585.55.

Iron and steel, mining and machinery-oriented issues comprised those that advanced the most by the morning break.
