Tokyo stocks climb in morning as slowing virus deaths lift mood

TOKYO, April 7 (Xinhua) - Tokyo stocks advanced Tuesday morning, as sentiment was lifted by Wall Street's rally overnight, as figures showed a slowing death toll rate from the coronavirus in the United States and Europe.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 232.23 points, or 1.25 percent, from Monday to 18,808.53.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 16.69 points, or 1.21 percent, at 1,392.99.

Service, construction and rubber product-linked issues comprised those that gained the most by the morning break.
