TOKYO, July 25 (Xinhua) - Tokyo stocks closed higher Thursday helped by technology issues advancing after their US counterparts gained ground overnight.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 46.98 points, or 0.22 percent, from Wednesday to close the day at 21,756.55.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 2.76 points, or 0.18 percent, to close at 1,577.85.
Metal product, electric power and gas, and precision instrument-linked issues comprised those that gained the most by the close of play.
