TOKYO, June 9 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks closed lower Tuesday snapping a six-day winning streak as investors secured gains after the recent rally and exporters were sold on the yen's rise.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 87.07 points, or 0.38 percent, from Monday to close the day at 23,091.03.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, shed 2.29 points, or 0.14 percent, to finish at 1,628.43.

Marine transportation, iron and steel, and transportation equipment-liked issues comprised those that declined the most by the close of play.
