TOKYO, July 29 (Xinhua) - Tokyo stocks closed lower Monday with technology issues sold after subpar earnings amid a circumspect mood ahead of the outcomes of central bank policy meetings in Japan and the United States.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 41.35 points, or 0.19 percent, from Friday to close the day at 21,616.80.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, fell 2.95 points, or 0.19 percent, to finish at 1,568.57.

Electric appliance, rubber product and metal product-linked issues comprised those that declined the most by the close of play.
