TOKYO, Dec. 30 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks lost ground Wednesday morning as investors opted to secure gains in the final session of the year following the Nikkei's more than 2 percent rise a day earlier to close at a near 30-year high.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average dropped 155.91 points, or 0.57 percent, from Tuesday to 27,412.24.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, lost 12.26 points, or 0.67 percent, at 1,806.92.

Iron and steel, mining, and textile and apparel-linked issues comprised those that declined the most by the morning break.
