Tokyo stocks drop in morning on concerns over outlook for global economy

TOKYO, Dec. 4 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks retreated Wednesday morning following Wall Street losing ground overnight, on renewed concerns over the future course of the global economy.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average fell 292.01 points, or 1.25 percent, from Tuesday to 23,087.80.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, dropped 9.00 points, or 0.53 percent, at 1,697.73.

Securities house, nonferrous metal and machinery-linked issues comprised those that declined the most by he morning break.
