Tokyo stocks end higher on construction firms’ solid earnings

TOKYO, Nov. 12 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo shares closed higher Tuesday with the benchmark Nikkei stock index ending at a fresh 13-month high, as sentiment was bolstered by the construction sector here reporting solid earnings.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 188.17 points, or 0.81 percent, from Monday to close the day at 23,520.01.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 5.64 points, or 0.33 percent, to finish at 1,709.67.

Construction, oil and coal product, and securities firms-linked issues comprised those that gained the most by the close of play.
