Tokyo stocks fall in morning as concerns mount over 2nd wave of virus

TOKYO, May 12 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks were lower Tuesday morning in choppy trade, as buying was supported by hopes for virus-induced emergency restrictions being lifted in Japan, although concerns over a second wave of coronavirus infections weighed on sentiment.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average fell 41.45 points, or 0.20 percent, from Monday to 20,349.21.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, lost 3.48 points, or 0.24 percent, at 1,477.14.

Marine transportation, rubber product and air transportation issues comprised those that declined the most by the morning break. Enditem
