TOKYO, Aug. 21 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo shares declined Wednesday morning after inheriting weak leads from European and US markets overnight, with investor sentiment also dented by renewed concerns over trade issues.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average dropped 80.30 points, or 0.39 percent, from Tuesday to 20,596.92.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, lost 11.58 points, or 0.77 percent, at 1,495.19.
The majority of industry categories retreated into negative territory, with electric power and gas, textile and apparel, and glass and ceramic-linked issues comprising notable decliners.
