Tokyo stocks flat in morning amid possible delay to key trade deal

TOKYO, Nov. 7 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks were essentially flat Thursday morning as Wall Street's mixed lead overnight.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average shed 8.86 points, or 0.04 percent, from Wednesday to 23,294.96.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange inched up 0.31 point, or 0.02 percent, at 1,694.76.

Iron and steel, and marine transportation issues led notable decliners, while precision instrument and mining issues comprised those that gained the most by the morning break.
