Tokyo stocks flat in morning on Wall Street's lead, profit taking

TOKYO, Dec. 16 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks were essentially flat Monday morning despite a solid lead from Wall Street late last week on eased concerns about the future course of the global economy.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average shed 4.58 points, or 0.02 percent, from Friday to 24,018.52.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, edged up 0.79 point, or 0.05 percent, at 1,740.77.

Rubber product and mining issues led notable decliners, while farm and fishery, and real estate-linked issues comprised those that gained the most by the morning break.
