Tokyo stocks lose ground in morning amid concerns over COVID-19 resurgences

TOKYO, Oct. 27 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks lost ground Tuesday morning as novel coronavirus cases continuing to surge in some European countries and the United States sparked concerns over the pace of the global economic recovery from the pandemic.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average dropped 65.64 points, or 0.28 percent, from Monday to 23,428.70.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, lost 6.63 points, or 0.41 percent, at 1,612.35.

Air transportation, mining and rubber product-oriented issues comprised those that declined the most by the morning break. Enditem
