TOKYO, Dec. 11 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened flat Wednesday as investors refrained from making bold moves ahead of the result of the U.S. Federal Reserve's two-day policy meeting due later in the day.
As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 22.28 points, or 0.10 percent, from Tuesday to 23,432.47.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, shed 0.24 points, or 0.01 percent, at 1,720.53.
Iron and steel, and farm and fishery issues led notable gainers, while marine transportation and insurance issues comprised those that declined the most in the opening minutes after the the morning bell.
