Tokyo stocks open higher as sentiment turns positive on Wall Street's rebound

TOKYO, July 23 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened higher Tuesday as investor sentiment was bolstered by US shares rebounding overnight.

As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 90.67 points, or 0.42 percent, from Monday to 21,507.46.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 3.77 points, or 0.24 percent, at 1,560.14.

Marine transportation, oil and coal product, and metal product-linked issues comprised those that gained the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
