Tokyo stocks open higher on renewed hopes for trade deal

TOKYO, Nov. 25 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened higher Monday following a positive lead from Wall Street late last week on renewed hopes for an interim trade deal between China and the United States.

As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 176.14 points, or 0.76 percent, from Friday to 23,289.02.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 11.74 points, or 0.69 percent, at 1,703.08.

Mining, marine transportation, and oil and coal product-linked issues comprised those that gained the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
