Tokyo stocks open higher on solid lead from Wall Street overnight

TOKYO, June 2 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened higher Tuesday as the market inherited a positive lead from Wall Street overnight on hopes eased coronavirus restrictions will lead to further economic activity.

As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 182.83 points, or 0.83 percent, from Monday to 22,245.22.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 12.06 points, or 0.77 percent, at 1,580.81.

Mining, bank, and iron and steel-linked issues comprised those that gained the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
