Tokyo stocks opened lower on Wednesday, with investor sentiment dampened by a strong yen and drops on Wall Street.

The key Nikkei 225 index fell 0.50 percent or 114.37 points to 22,543.01 in early trade after three days of losses, while the broader Topix index dropped 0.54 percent or 8.51 points to 1,560.61.
